A reinroduction to my blog

I thought I would write an reintroduction post to my blog that is in more detail than my about page and since somethings have changed around here.
I started A Jewel In The Making in 2008 on Blogger. I wrote a few posts but life kept me busy with my then three kids and pregnant with my fourth. Then in December 2011 I decided I really wanted to start blogging again but this time share more then just what’s happening in my life and fun, cute ideas. I want to write about things that I’m passionate about and share information on what I’ve learned over the years. I also hope to earn money while blogging to help support my family.

More about me

I’m a work at home mom married 10 years. I am a firm follower of Christ. I have five kiddos. My oldest, a girl, is 9. My next is a boy, who’s 7. Then I have a girl, who’s 5. My next is a boy who’s 4 years old. My youngest, a girl, is 2 years old. I homeschool the oldest two. We live in the Pacific Northwest. We love being together as a family. I love photography-almost graduated from college for that. I also love reading and when I was younger you could not pry my nose from a book. We love renting a beach house for a week in spring and enjoying our vacation just relaxing. I love visiting the lighthouses around the area that we rent in. I just started working at building my business as an independent distributor for Young Living Essential Oils. They have helped my family so much. I blog about it at Anointing The Family if you are interested in learning more about how essential oils can help you.

More about my blog

I really started growing my blog into the vision that I hope it will become starting in July 2012. First and foremost this blog will serve the Lord. Some of my posts will be about God and my faith. Each weekday I plan on writing a different topic on the daily theme.

Sundays will not have anything as it is a time for church and rest and family.

Mondays theme will be Biblical Theology. I share a verse of the week, a biblical theology term, a youtube music video of a Christian artist who’s songs I like, points from the Westminster Confessions of Faith and other confessions of faith, points from the Baptist Catechism, a little info about a person in the bible and a little bit about a book of the Bible.

Tuesdays theme is health and diet-mostly the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. We are a gluten free family and I have even taken it further and gone grain free on the Specific Carbohydrate diet, which has been rewarding but tough. Nothing in life is easy. I plan on talking more about food, natural health, dangers of chemicals, vaccines and other health related topics.

On Wednesday are recipes that are “legal” on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.

Thursdays are about homeschooling. Ideas I hope to implement in our homeschooling, things we’ve learned, field trips we have taken, legal information and how to start homeschooling.

Fridays are all about becoming a T2/P31 woman. T2/P31 woman stands for Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 from the Bible. These posts are about homemaking, frugality, becoming a better wife, mother and homemaker as outlined in the Bible. Hoping that these will help encourage you.

Saturdays are for posting whatever I feel like posting. This may include info about Young Living Essential Oils. I do reviews and I definitely do quite a few giveaways. I plan on doing at least once a month but hopefully more often as personal finances allow. Most giveaway items will be products that I have used and/or enjoy and want to share with my readers. A few friends of mine make their own products to support their families and I want to support them. One friends makes some lovely absolutely divine goat milk soap and I enjoy using it daily. Another creates beautiful jewelry from older pieces that have been upcycled in to new pieces.
Even if you are not a Christian I’m sure that you will learn alot if you follow me.

So what would you like to learn about? Do you like my themes? Would you like reading a few reviews? What kind of giveaways are you interested in? Do you think you would be interested in my blog? Please be truthful, you won’t hurt my feelings-honest.

If you are interested

I hope that you will enjoy my musings. Please join me on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. There is the subscribe by email/RSS if you are really interested in my writings.

Thank you.

Hi there. I have a review blog, and with great passion I write and share my experiences with different products and services I encounter with. It really is a fun thing to do, and if ever you’re headed that way as well, welcome to the reviewing family. :)

Lovely reintroduction. Life can get busy with kids and working from home but you seem to have a pretty good blogging schedule mapped out.

Hello! Sounds like you have a plateful of some really good topics. I’m a Christian as well and hope that my blog helps point people to Jesus. And cool that you get to homeschool your kids- I was homeschooled too. :)

I can tell you are passionate and organized! A good wife and mother I am sure ;) It is nice to “meet” you. I’d like to poke around a bit to see more homeschool posts. I am doing PreK right now with my 5 year old and I will continue to homeschool with her. I also keep the Sabbath, and live in the PNW. So we have much in common!

    Blessings!

You have a beautiful family. It’s awesome that you are able to homeschool your children. I would have loved to have done that but it just wasn’t in the cards for us. I can’t wait to see your recipes, our family is moving to a Paleo lifestyle but not quite there yet but definately glueten free right now.

I think homeschooling is brave and marvelous thing for a parent to do. It take on the responsibility and the joy of watching your children’s intelligence grow and blossom under your own careful supervision. Well done and good luck with the blog!

Wow, it sounds like you’re one rockin’ mama! As a mom of four I can definitely relate :) We just got back from a trip up the west coast visiting San Francisco, Crescent City, Oregon, and Washington- it was beautiful, but cold, and it’s definitely nice to be back home in sunny San Diego! I love your values, and give you major props for homeschooling, blogging 6 days a week and taking Sundays off for church & rest- you go girl!

Hi, I am so glad you have continued with your blog. I completely understand about being busy. I too am a mom to 4, homeschooling my younger 3 who are 6, 5, and 3- my teenager goes to a Science and Arts Academy. Life can be a circus at times at our house, our 6 year old has mild autism and keeps us very busy. Thank you for sharing with us.

Good to “meet” a fellow believer in Christ! I like that you have daily themes. I know I need to re-organize my blog schedules and I want to be able to insert more spiritual content rather than just plain reviews on my blog.
